Bio
Jinny McGivern graduated from the State University of New York (SUNY) Purchase with a B.F.A. in Dance Performance in 2005 and earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the City University of New York (CUNY) Graduate Center (Hunter College) with honors in 2014. Jinny was extremely fortunate in that she was exposed to the IPA and the FMT approach as a PT student, both through taking courses and by completing a clinical affiliation at IPA Manhattan. After working for several months, she enrolled in a two year IPA Residency program at the Long Island University (LIU) Center for Physical Rehabilitation where she received mentorship from Guia Sheker and Steven Kofsky. Jinny sat for CFMT in August 2016 and passed with distinction. In September 2016, Jinny joined CFMT's Elliot Fishbein and Katherine Tan at Kinected Functional Manual Therapy, an outpatient clinic in New York City. Jinny also treats professional dancers backstage at various Broadway shows with PhysioArts and writes research reviews for the online education platform The Brookbush Institute. She joined the faculty of the IPA in December 2016 and is looking forward to sharing her enthusiasm for this approach with other physical therapists!
