Postures and Patterns to Enhance Locomotion Many aspects of function are impeded by motor control problems that are reflected in a patient's gait pattern. The skill to observe and then positively impact on a patient's gait dysfunction is a powerful tool in the total rehabilitation of both neurological and orthopedic patients. This course provides therapists with in-depth training in gait analysis and PNF treatment strategies to enhance overall structure and function in both the orthopedic and neurological populations. Objective - Building on the foundational skills learned in PNF I, the lab sessions will emphasize the necessary developmental and learning sequence for each aspect of the gait cycle.
- Through observation, the structural and functional components of gait dysfunction will be identified.
- PNF principles and procedures will be used to improve gait mechanics
- Activities will include enhancing skills of rolling, crawling, sitting, walking, and running.
- Included will be an analysis and treatment of neurologically involved patients and the application to an evidence based practice.
